Rotterdam as a bridge between worlds
The harbour, the bridges, the futuristic skyline, the international allure – what city better suited than Rotterdam to house the European fantasy, science fiction, and horror convention of the year?
For the first time in 51 years, Eurocon, the European hotel convention for fantasy, science fiction, and horror, will be held in the Netherlands. A unique event which will take place in the heart of Rotterdam. That’s why this 51st edition of Eurocon is called “Erasmuscon”, and has chosen the theme “A Bridge Between”.
The Postillion WTC Convention Center will be the command center (or bridge) of the convention from the 16th till the 19th of August 2024. Several people who hold many years of experience in the Dutch fantasy and science fiction world are at the helm of the organisation: André de Boer, Paul van Over, Tanja van Oven and Jan Scholte. They are assisted by a large group of volunteers who enthusiastically collaborate to ensure Erasmuscon will be an unforgettable experience.
A Bridge Between… What?
Books and games. Films and comics. Science and Fantasy. AI and Science Fiction. ‘Young Adults’ and regular adults. Star Trek and Star Wars. Acting and writing. Painting and drawing manga.
There will be workshops and panels, such as ‘Publishing Across Borders’, ‘Shared Universe’ and ‘Navigating the Line between Archaeological Reality and Imagination’.
Programme and ESFS Awards
Visitors of the convention can look forward to panels, workshops, an art show, a cosplay contest, meet & greets with their favourite authors, and of course getting to know each other. The guests of honour are none other than Andrzej Sapowski (The Witcher), Jasper Fforde (The Eyre Affair), Gary Erskine (DC Comics), and from the Netherlands Bo Balder (The Wan) and Iris Compiet (The Dark Crystal Bestiary). They will participate in panels and be ready to sign their work. More signatures can be collected from the many illustrators or artists, like Pam Hage and Marjolein de Jong.
If you love action, you can participate in a workshop sword fighting, organised by Raymond Brands. Or join the cosplay competition and show everyone your outfit. You can score additions for your collection or join a book launch in the large dealer room. Get yourself that latest book with autograph!
If it is some peace and quiet you’re after, you can participate in the workshop “Galaxy Painting Bob Ross Style” by Heidi van der Vloet, or retreat to the chill room and cosy up with a book.
On Sunday, the programme will offer several activities with Young Adult content, for which several YA authors, like Renske de Wolf (The Crowfield Chronicles), will be present.

When buying a ticket, you will automatically become a member of the Eurocon organisation. Members can vote in the ESFS Awards, the European awards for fantasy and science fiction. Every European country will present their nominees in the different categories, such as “Best Work of Fiction”, “Best Author” or “Best Work of Art”. The nominees will be announced at the convention, after which members can vote, followed by the Award ceremony.
Tickets
Tickets are for sale via https://www.erasmuscon.nl/membership.
Prices range from €30 for one day to €125 for the full four day convention.
Young adults (between 12 and 22 years old) pay €75 for the full four days, but can also choose to only attend the YA programme on Sunday. For them, a ticket for one day will cost €25.
Children between 3 and 12 years old pay €5 for one day or €10 for the entire convention.
Children under the age of 3 have free access.

Do you want to sell your own illustrations, art work, books, merchandise, or other products at Erasmuscon? We offer a spacious dealer room where you can sell your wares to all Erasmuscon visitors, who are huge fans of all things fantasy, science fiction, and horror related! We expect around 700 visitors, half of which will be of international origin.
